Following quiet country routes, biking with Sancho Travels allows you to get off the beaten track and discover areas that modern Spain has bypassed. The routes cover varying levels of fitness, and guided or self-ride tours are available.

Camino de Santiago
7 Days, Guided/Self Guided

It is as much the journey as the destination that inspires and inspires contemplation. Cycling St James' Way continues a pilgrim tradition dating back to the beginning of the ninth century with the "discovery" of the remains of the Apostle, now resting in the Cathedral of the Galician city of Santiago de Compostela. Over the centuries, the pilgrims' route has fostered an extraordinary spiritual, cultural and social vitality.

People's reasons for undertaking the route are many, and not necessarily religious or spiritual. In fact many opt to take special care to enjoy the more earthly pleasures while enroute, such as the delicious local food. Whatever their reasons for travelling the St James Way, few are left unimpressed by the natural beauty and fellow travellers one meets on the way.

Andalucan Historic Trails
7 Days, Guided

Many cultures – Moorish, Visigothic, Roman and Greek – have crossed paths in the southernmost part of Spain. This route follows the paths of the Caliphs – the chief civil and religious ruler of the Muslim faith, regarded as the successors of Muhammad and of Washington Irving, most famous as the creator of "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow", but who stayed in the Alhambra Palace while serving as the American ambassador to Spain in the 1840s.

You'll cycle an old rail track, now perfect for pedalling, as well as smaller country roads and paths. Accommodation is excellent: staying in four-star hotels in the bigger cities and smaller hotels with their own special charm in a few picturesque Andalusian villages. This is the perfect opportunity to experience traditional Andalusian cuisine along with excellent wines. Transfers to the various stage starting points are made in. For those wanting more of a challenge, each day's stages may be lengthened or shortened, depending on the group's level and motivation.

5 Days, Self Guided

With a backdrop of the Sierra Nevada and Tejeda, this awe-inspiring landscape of rolling countryside and medieval villages is quintessential Andalusia. Wide open skies, curving roads past tranquil olive groves, shepherds guiding flocks and into quiet town centres where residents stroll in late afternoon sun, gathering on benches to discuss the day's events. And what better way to finish a short break than with a trip to the classic city of Granada to visit a true wonder of the world, the Alhambra Palace.

Northern Spain
8 Days, Self Guided

A beautiful ride along the northern Spanish coast. Verdant countryside contrasts with the Cantabrian Sea and the magnificent unspoilt beaches. Cycle through picturesque villages with flower bedecked houses, fishing harbours, and the alpine backdrop of the Picos de Europa.

Madrid Sierra
7 Days, Guided

While the bright lights of Madrid attract multitudes of tourists, there is a wealth to see and do in the mountains that border Madrid's northern approaches. This trip combines the peace and quiet of the Sierra de Guadarrama with some of the area's most important monuments – the monasteries of El Escorial and Rascafra; the castle of Manzanares el Real and the medieval town of Buitrago de Lozoya, with its city walls and Picasso Museum.

Combined with Madrid's sunny spring and summer weather, and spectacular autumncolours, this is a perfect introduction to attractions and charms that lie outside Madrid's city limits.
